There’s an outrage in Barangay Dalakit Purok 6, due to flooding issues caused by ongoing road construction. Residents of the affected area are now facing unexpected consequences as heavy rains floods nearby homes and businesses.
Local authorities had initiated the road construction project several years ago with promises of better connectivity and infrastructure development. However, inadequate drainage planning and a lack of proper construction timelines have left many areas vulnerable to flooding. The frustration among residents is palpable, with many expressing anger and dismay over the situation. The worse part is that they will not build the drainage systems yet. Thus people will need to wait for a little longer that drainage system.
“nagparahulat kami sadto na kalye, yana dire namo aram na magbabaha ngay an.” remarked one resident, in dismay by the situation. Another resident lamented, “kahuna namon nga makakabulig an pag patindog kalye dinhe pero grabe an baha manggud.”
City officials have been overwhelm with complaints and have pledged to address the issue promptly. The project manager acknowledged the unforeseen challenges but assured residents that measures are being taken to mitigate the flooding and expedite the completion of the roadwork.
As the situation unfolds, residents are patiently waiting while authorities work to find solutions. The road construction saga, originally seen as a beacon of hope for the community, has now become a contentious issue sparking heated debates and calls for urgent action to prevent further flooding incidents.
Luckily, the government are taking actions and finishing the road project. If not then Barangay Dalakit will still be in outrage. Also hopefully, the government does not prolong the wait for the drainage systems.
